Textile Story
Knit from the handspun yarn of desi sheep wool - the hardy, indigenous variety native to India - this cloth carries the quiet strength of the mountains in its fibres. Each skein is spun and dyed by hand using natural pigments drawn from the landscape itself - iron, madder, indigo, pomegranate - before being hand knitted. The wool has a natural softness and density, its hand both rustic and refined; a texture shaped by the highland climate and the rhythm of the knitting needles.
The fabric is created by a women’s collective in the Himalayan foothills; a circle of spinners, dyers, and weavers who sustain both heritage and livelihood through their craft. Rooted in a self-sustaining craft tradition, the making of this cloth honours both material and maker.
Any variations or irregularities are to be celebrated. They are part of the design & inherent to the handcrafted production process, making this item beautifully unique.
