Textile Story
Woven from the handspun yarn of desi sheep wool - the hardy, indigenous variety native to India - this cloth carries the quiet strength of the mountains in its fibres. Each skein is spun and dyed by hand using natural pigments drawn from the landscape itself - iron, madder, indigo, pomegranate - before being woven on traditional wooden looms. The wool has a natural softness and density, its hand both rustic and refined; a texture shaped by the highland climate and the rhythm of the loom.
Its motifs echo the traditional textiles of Himachal Pradesh: geometric rhythms and protective symbols long passed down through generations of hill weavers. Every thread holds within it the memory of warmth, resilience, and the slow work of hands moving with the pace of nature.
The fabric is created by a women’s collective in the Himalayan foothills; a circle of spinners, dyers, and weavers who sustain both heritage and livelihood through their craft. Rooted in a self-sustaining craft tradition, the making of this cloth honours both material and maker.
Any variations or irregularities are to be celebrated. They are part of the design & inherent to the handcrafted production process, making this item beautifully unique.
