Ultrafine Mulmul Scarf | ajrakh VIII

SKU: Aj-cot-M-8
$170.00Price
  • This cotton scarf, from the personal collection of one of India's foremost ajrakh Master Artisans, showcases the very best of two of India's textile traditions. The first is the cotton mulmul -  the finest & lightest of India's hand spun & woven cottons. The second is the ajrakh - printed using a particularly small & finely carved 2" block to create a highly detailed pattern.

    • Hand block printed in the ancient technqiue of ajrakh - a complex 15-stage process using natural vegetable & mineral mordants, dyes & resists to achieve rich, geometric patterns,  crafted by the Khatri community in Ajrakhpur, whose ancestors have been perfecting the process for generations.
    • Hand spun and woven 500s mulmul cotton; an extremely rare cloth know for its gossamer fineness, capable of being woven by only a dozen or so weavers in West Bengal.
    • Measures 23" by 80" with small variations.
    • All orders come lovingly packed in upcycled silk bags.
