Vintage Japanese haori, hand made using resist-dyed kanako shibori on silk. A beautiful, statement jacket with kimono-style collar and wide, draping sleeves. Half lined. Traditionally, haori are worn over kimonos (the verb "haoru" means to throw over); we suggest wearing it over t-shirt and jeans to transform your everyday look. One of a kind: as this collection is pre-loved and vintage, some pieces may include slight stains on the lining or outer.
Kanoko Shibori is made the same way as Indian bandhani; small pinches of fabric are labouriously hand tied in thread to resist the dye bath. It's said to be named after the speckled dots on a fawn. The handfeel is highly textured and the silk ever-so-slightly stiff, giving structure to the silhouette.
