RETURNS & EXCHANGES
Shibori is a 1300 year old tie and dye technique developed in Japan involving the folding and clamping or otherwise securing of fabric prior to dyeing. Shibori was introduced to India supposedly by Nobel Laureate, Rabindranath Tagore, in the early 20th century.
Our shibori fabric has been hand-crafted by a cluster of Self Help Groups (SHGs) in rural Rajasthan, providing 400 highly marginalised women artisans with training, a regular source of income, fair pay and a dignified and independent means of livelihood.
Any variations or irregularities are part of the design and inherent to the production process.
- Ethical: handwork provided by women’s Self Help Group, providing members training, regular employment, living wages and safe & flexible working conditions. Hand-stitching is done in our workshop where workers receiving living wages and enjoy good working conditions.
- Women empowerment: handwork by women from highly marginalised communities. This work provides their only source of income.
