Sari String & Bead Necklace | bird of paradise
Our range of signature Sari Necklaces are designed to utilise the sari fabric left after the production of our Kantha Sari Scarves, as part of our Zero Waste Policy.
We select the most striking colours and prints from the mountains of sari remnants in our workshop. These scraps are first matched together then cut and sewn into tight tubes, which are then turned inside out, carefully positioned into layers and then hand-finished. They contain no metal parts and are very light-weight.
One piece of sari scrap can be made into several necklaces, so positioning of print may differ very slightly. Any variations or irregularities are part of the design and inherent to the production process.
- Eco: use of scrap fabric reduces waste. All materials are natural and thus biodegradable.
- Ethical: handwork provided by migrant workers in Delhi from marginalised communities. They are provided at least double the minumum & market wages, regular work, safe and flexible working conditions and training.
