Our Cocoon Coat is timeless: refined in style, but designed for effortless, every day wear. It's a one-size coat featuring full lining, a wide box cut, and dropped shoulders which taper into semi-fitted sleeves. The narrow sleeves provide shape to the oversized body.

This style closes in the front with a hidden placket and coconut shell buttons, comes to just below the knee and has broad welt side pockets. Both outer and lining are crafted in a beautifully textured, mid-weight khadi cotton; hand spun and hand woven in rural Bengali villages.

A supremely comfortable, season-less coat that borrows an element of sophistication from classic colours and clean lines. We suggest turning the sleeve up to showcase the lining.

This piece in unbleached, creamy white, with a lining in ubleached white and natural-dyed indigo ticking.

Khadi Cocoon Coat | kora

SKU: Coc-khadi-1
  • This piece is the result of a lengthy process, whereby cotton fibres are carefully hand spun and hand woven by rural Bengali weavers. This lightly textured fabric is known as khadi and maintains the intrinsic properties of cotton normally damaged during the machine-spinning process. It will continue to get softer with wear.

Any variations or irregularities are part of the design and inherent to the production process.

    On sustainability:

    - Eco: khadi is ecologically superior; entirely hand made processes mean this item is eco-friendly. All materials are natural and thus bio-degradable.

    - Ethical: cotton spinning is completed by KVI, a government-supported non-profit organisation providing rural artisans with regular work. Weaving is completed by a for-profit family-run company ensuring weavers get full-year employment and fair wages. Garments are stitched in our Delhi workshop where workers receive well above the minimum wage and enjoy flexible, safe and comfortable working conditions.
